our 3-day Fes to Merzouga desert tour begins with pickup from your hotel, riad or another agreed location in Fes.

Leave the city behind and travel south toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is Ifrane, a beautiful mountain town known for its clean streets, alpine-style architecture and cool mountain climate.

Continue toward Azrou, where you can stop near the famous cedar forests. Depending on the conditions and your preferences, there may be an opportunity to see the local Barbary macaques.

The journey then continues through the dramatic landscapes of the Middle Atlas. As you travel farther south, the scenery gradually changes from mountain forests to dry valleys and desert landscapes.

Continue toward Midelt and the spectacular Ziz Valley, where palm groves and oasis landscapes contrast beautifully with the surrounding mountains.

Later, pass through Erfoud, an important town in the region known for its fossils and connection to Morocco's desert geology.

Continue toward Merzouga, arriving in the Sahara region in the afternoon or early evening.

Depending on your arrival time, you can begin your camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Ride across the golden sand while watching the colors of the desert change as the sun sets.
Arrive at your desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the evening around the campfire with local music.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Khamlia – Nomadic Area – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Wake early to experience sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before returning to your accommodation for breakfast.

After breakfast, continue exploring the Merzouga desert region.

The route can include Khamlia, a village famous for its Gnawa music and cultural heritage. You can meet local musicians and learn more about the traditions of the region.

Continue toward the desert surroundings, with the possibility of visiting a nomadic community and learning about traditional life in southeastern Morocco.

Leave the Merzouga region and travel west through the changing landscapes of the Sahara and the Anti-Atlas.

Continue toward the Todra Gorge, one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in southern Morocco. The enormous limestone cliffs and narrow canyon make this one of the most impressive stops along the route.

After exploring the gorge, continue through the Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations, kasbahs, palm groves and traditional villages.

Arrive in the Dades Valley in the evening and check into your accommodation.

Day 3: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Depending on your timing and itinerary, you can visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco's most famous fortified villages. Its distinctive earthen architecture has appeared in numerous international film and television productions.

From Ait Ben Haddou, continue toward the High Atlas Mountains.

Cross the spectacular mountain landscapes toward the Tizi n'Tichka area, stopping along the route for photographs and views when conditions allow.
